Twelve real wines are named on the bench. One of them is in the glass in front of you,
under a cloth. You will not get to run all six examinations and decide afterwards —
every look costs you, and the looks you do not spend are what you score.
1
Six examinations. Tilt against white, swirl, two passes on the nose, two on the palate. Each costs one look from a budget that shrinks every round.
2
Every finding rules some wines out. Cross them out yourself. The bench will not let you cross out a wine your own evidence still allows — and it costs you eight points when you try.
3
Call it when you are ready. Fifty points for the right wine, twenty for every look you never spent, twenty-five for a clean sheet. Nothing at all for the wrong wine.
4
Round three holds two wines that differ on exactly one axis. Five of the six examinations cannot tell them apart. The skill is knowing which one can.
